Garth Turner is Stuck On Stupid
Written by Richard Evans
Tuesday, 10 June 2008

In trying to explain why a carbon tax would be a good thing, Liberal Member of Parlament Garth Turner writes the following on his blog :

The tax-shift plan is about more than cutting your taxes, though. Since Dion wants to put a price on pollution, a major goal is clearly to reduce it. Suddenly companies that clean up their act would be better off financially. Those that don’t, or can’t, pay more.

Would those polluters – oil producers, hydro generating stations, smelters, mills, manufacturers – pass on this new tax burden to consumers in the form of higher prices? After all, this is the foundation of the Conservative attack on the idea. (By the way, Mr. Harper’s government has yet to force any companies to reduce their polluting emissions.)

(emphasis mine)

Someone really needs to tell Garth Turner that hydro stations don't generate pollution.

What really gets me is that an idiot like Turner is sitting in elected office...

Mostly true but they devastate fish stocks because one day the fish try to swim to lay eggs and theres a big concrete thing there.

Besides Hydro will be exempt from these measures because Quebec has that. Since we in MB use the same we get a free ride.

It may even be worse than you think Richard. Its possible that Garth Turner was referring to the carbon used in the process of creating the concrete used in constuction of any hydroelectric dams when he referred to "pollution" If so, this would seem to indicate that mr Garth wishes to tax not only those whose economic activity directly leads to "pollution" but in fact anyone whose economic activity might in any way shape or form, no matter how tangenitally, might contribute to "pollution"
And that is even scarier than than the fact that Debbie wasserman-shultz (a moonbat on par with Mr Garth from what I can tell.) sits in the US house of representatives.
