How can someone do that and not have a record?  Yikes, turn the walkman down.
I know they are annoying but,...  I think theres a big piece still tio be filled in like a divorce or something underworldy, or in another country, or with another ID.

he saw the attacker stab his seatmate, a young man sleeping with his headphones on.

“While we were watching the door, he calmly walks up to the front with the head in his hand and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in front of us,” said Caton.

“While we were waiting on the side of the road, he was taunting the police with the head in his hand,” said Caton.

Oh since our glorious long gun registry was brought in the curve is going up again,...

Plus carrying concealed needs to be allowed for law abiding citizens.  Theres an article in the free press [they were giving out free yesterday at the mennonite heritage museum] and it's saying theres an opinmion on blogs that the crowd should rush him imagine.  He could have taken out a lot more than one person.  I hope I act better if a lone person with a knife shows up.  Even if it's a big one.  Even though a bus is a tough place but everyone else got off unharmed.

But it's like Gamil Gharbi,  all the guys just left and allowed 1 man to kill far more in Montreal than would have died had they all rushed him or if they were carrying concealed pistols.  Alas this might be what feminists want bodies piled up like firewood and men no longer their protectors, but I asked my wife if she thought the guys in her university class would do any different, she figures no.

If they didn't wait for the police, the guy might still have died but,.. he might not have.

Ok I have been on a greyhoud many times and I know the main aisle is very narrow. I cant understand how so many people just watched this guy stab someone 40 times and did nor intervene.
It seems from reports that the killer had the other guy up againt the bathroom door thus with his back to the front of the bus, someone could have jumped the killer and did something. Chokem or gouged his eyes or punch in the kidneys?? Cm'on something that may have savd the victims life?

my thoughts. He had a knife not a gun.

This story is very sad indeed. A good honest Afghan man moves to Canada to start a new life and be a honest Canadian and he he cant due to thugs in the area.
Who knows maybe he is even Muslim? Why have the police not done more to help this business owner. I am tired of all the chit chat and hype over the HRC's and how Muslims are the real threat and nazis oh just ignore them.
How about we raise some cash to help this guy out.

Immigrant closes store after 10 robberies in 3 years

Updated Sat. Aug. 2 2008 7:12 PM ET

ctvtoronto.ca

An east-end Toronto convenience store owner closed his shop for the last time Saturday after being robbed 10 times in three years.

Kishore Muthreja said thieves, who were often armed, targeted his shop in Toronto's Kingston Road and Woodbine Avenue area looking for cash and cigarettes.

One robbery left a gaping hole in the store's wall after thieves stole the ATM.

Muthreja said he feared for his life after thieves struck twice in one week and left him with a scar when they slashed him in the stomach with a knife.

"After the eighth time, all the time you are feeling scared," Muthreja told CTV Toronto.

The store's security cameras were broken in another incident.

Muthreja's insurance company will no longer cover him because of the high number of robberies, many of which occurred during daytime hours.

Muthreja's landlord said it will be hard for him to find a new tenant that will want to open a convenience store on the site.

"No one would want to put a confectionary store here with all the publicity and all that went on," Paul Francis told CTV Toronto.

Muthreja had moved to Canada from Afghanistan hoping for a more peaceful life. Instead, he lost about $75,000 in the business.

Now the 61-year-old has to find a new way to earn a living.

With a report from CTV Toronto's Brad Giffen

btw Richard I appreciate you have a legitimate point about the HRC's-this story just was interesting.
a missing peice of the story
written by Khris, August 03, 2008
As much as the media would have us beleive this very tragic incident happened for no apparent reason....we are missing a big peice of this story.

There has to be a motive.

From the limited information these are the facts:

a. Tim Maclean was working in Edmonton

b. Vince Li is a resident of Edmonton

c. Vince Li tells his boss in early July he will need a few days off to go for an interview in Winnipeg. Tim Maclean is from Near Winnipeg.

d. Vince Li's wife , when called does not know where her husband is...she thinks he is out of town on emergency.

Conclusion: there is a peice missing and it most likely has to deal with Vince Li's wife. Tim never recognized Vince Li, but Vince was only on the bus for 30 mins and moved beside Tim with what some could say focus.

The question that needs to be answered was what was Vince doing before he got on the bus?

khris do you have a link for the interview with his wife?
A missing piece of Khris' theory
written by Barry, August 13, 2008
The fact is that Li boarded the bus in Brandon, not in Edmonton, where Tim boarded. So, without any way of knowing Tim was on that particular bus, how could Li have premeditated killing this particular individual? Tim was most likely picked at random; Li was just drawn to him for some reason. It could have been anything- the hip-hop clothing Tim wore, his hair-cut, the shape of his chin, anything might have attracted Li to him. Also, moving toward someone with focus isn't the same as moving toward someone with recognition, nor does it imply that Li knew Tim.

I'm not sure what Khris refers to when he talks about a missing piece most likely to do with Li's wife. Is it that she might be an accomplice, or is it that she might supply more insight into Li's mind? Is there a link anywhere to the interview?

I'm not saying Li had no motive to kill, obviously he was prepared to kill someone, but didn't know who until after boarding that bus in Brandon.

I don't like to indulge myself with knee-jerk assumptions. I've always thought putting 1 & 1 together & coming up with 11 as a liberal flaw.

Vince Li probably had high hopes of getting a job in Winnepeg so he could give his wife a better life. I am guessing that he didn't get the job, and went into depression because of it. This could have resulted in him being frustrated and getting irritated by little things that he would normally let pass. Maybe Tim McLean's music was loud and it was bothering him, so that's the reason he chose Tim. I doubt McLean and Li knew each other. Li doesn't seem to have any friends or very many friends at all other than his wife and she was not with him to comfort him or talk to him at the time. I wonder if he had a dream and it got ruined, .. and that's why he acted out in such a way. If you take a close look at what the people who knew him said about him, ... this seems very out of character for him. He seemed to have a good reputation before this.
Is it possible...?
written by Fuax, September 28, 2008
I know this is going to sound crazy and all but is it in anyway possible the McLean and Li's wife were.... you know... doing the horizontal jumbo? I took the idea that Li recognised Tim to imply that his killing, which you guys are suggesting was "focused", may have something to do with the fact that the boy and Li's wife were, "intimate". Again, I'm just speculating.
